How we cover adoption & rescue

Helpful, current, and grounded in the real work.

Adoption and rescue involve real animals, real people, and information that can change quickly. We focus on useful local context, careful sourcing, and stories that help readers understand the people, organizations, and resources making a difference for dogs across our region.

  • Useful, not duplicative

We help readers understand local organizations, adoption options, and the animal-welfare landscape without trying to recreate shelters' live listings or constantly changing program information.

  • Current and well sourced

When availability, policies, programs, or services matter to a story, we research them carefully and rely primarily on the organization itself for current information.

  • Dogs come first

These stories involve real animals and real people. We cover them with care, respect, and enough context to be useful without manufacturing stories or making claims we cannot support.
